Matthew Aaron Bennet’s new book, The Qur’an and the Christian is a must have for any Christian’s library living in today’s culture.
Islam is taking most of the world by storm growing at alarming rates. But what do they really believe? How does that impact us as Christians? What do we need to know? That is exactly what this book seeks to answer and accomplishes that in an easy and accessible fashion.
The title is a little misleading. The book is definitely about the Qur’an but it is also about so much more than that. Bennett does an excellent job of laying out the history of Islam, including a short biography of Muhammad, as well as talking about cultural differences between the Islamic and Christian worlds.
What was surprising about the book was to find out exactly what Muslims believe about Christians, the Bible, and where we have commonalities. However, while there are some commonalities, Bennett details where our distinct differences lie as well.
Finally, he finishes the book up with whether or not Christians should read, study, and use the Qur’an in our ministry to Muslims.
Overall, the book is an excellent and accessible read. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about Islam and what Muslims believe and why. I happily give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
I was given a free copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.
